*SPRING EVENT* Flower Follies Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

“Look, guys! Shelter!” Ellie shouted, pointing toward a small shack that was clearly untouched by mutant plants. It was ragged and old, covered in spiders and broken boards.

“Umm, that doesn’t look very…” Jeff started, but before he could continue, Ellie pulled him and James toward the shack.

As soon as she shut the door behind her, she said, “this is all we have right now. We’ll have to deal with it, okay, Jeff?” Jeff just stared, frustrated. However, James seemed to cooperate.

“Now, I have my social studies book and some bug spray. Does anyone have anything else useful?” Ellie asked.

“I have a half-eaten burger,” replied Jeff. “Why’d you bring bug spray to school, Ellie?”

“In case of emergencies. What do you have, James?”

“I have some crackers, 2 water bottles, and some chalk.”

“Well, at least that’s food and water,” Jeff said.

“And we can fight with the chalk,” James added as he pretended to unsheathe the piece of chalk like a weapon.

And Ellie said, “now we’re prepared for the apocalypse.”

Hundreds of mutant plants were crowding the school; all that the three were able to see was petals and leaves and mutated plant mouths. They were hoping there were one or two survivors still in Jordan Middle.

They approached very stealthily. Well, Ellie and James did. Jeff was trying his hardest, but he was instinctively bad at stealth, so he attracted a lot of noise.

“Jeff, stop stepping on twigs!” Ellie whispered loudly.

“I’m sorry, I can’t help it! These stupid things are all over the ground!” he replied.

“Jeff, come on.” James rolled his eyes.

Suddenly, Jeff stepped on a ginormous twig - a VERY big one. Every single mutant there looked at him. Ellie and James looked at him angrily. He shrugged.

So, the three siblings were running as fast as they could away from monstrous mutated plants. The day wasn’t going so well. Ellie was mad at Jeff, James was terrified, and Jeff had to go to the bathroom. All while running from nuclear plants.

However, the siblings slid into the bunker, avoiding the flowers just in time. But, they started breaking in. In an effort to stop them from infiltrating the bunker, the three started boarding up the doors.

“We need to hurry!” Ellie screamed. She and James heaved with all their might, forcing the plants away. And then there was silence. They assumed the plants had stopped. But there was something wrong.

“Wait…” James questioned. “Where’s Jeff?”

He was gone.
