The Land Of Light: Episode One

The Land Of Light is the place where you get your powers. It was a spectacle to behold and was my dream to go to. I wanted to get powers and take out all the cyberbullies and physical bullies in the world. The ones bullying me and anyone else. It’s a good thing, right?

“Nice day to be inside, right Ayden?” I asked my best friend.

“Sure is! I’ll get the whole squad to come after school.” He replied.

“See ya at poisoning!” I exclaimed. The squad rarely comes together, it should be an exciting occasion, might even bake a cake.

The class was boring and I mean, it’s not a part of the story so I’ll just skip it.

I was exiting school earlier than usual because of the whole snow monster problem. Montanea was an actual nightmare. No wonder news reporters say that Montanea isn’t the best place to live…

“Your home earlier than normal,” my mom asked.

“Yeah, school ended early since this snow attack,” I responded.

“How are you ever supposed to learn anything useful if you get home early from school every week because of a snow attack. The best thing to do at this point is move,” she told me. When she told me that statement, I automatically told myself, no we are not moving, and if we do move I only want to go to one place. The Land of Light. Ever since I was a little kid I was thinking about that.

“Hey, Kennedy, are you daydreaming again?” My mom asked me.

“No, no I was just er- thinking about this whole moving situation.” I had this stuck in my head and I don’t think I will be permanently glued in my brain.

“Okay, but if you think you are hurt in any way, just tell me.” My mom responded.

All my friends live here in Montanea and I never want to give this up. I would only give it up for a trip to, The Land of Light.

I wondered, pondered, and thought until…

“DING-DONG” the doorbell rang disrupting my fake conversation with Mom. She was not here.

‘The Squad!’ I thought remembering Ayden’s words rushing the door, grabbing the handle, and twisting it as fast as I could. At this point, poisoning class was forgotten in the depths of my brain.

“Hey! I was expecting you guys coming, what’s up?” I asked them.

“Want to go the treehouse?” Asked Deryan.

Just to clarify Ayden is my best friend.

Deryan is my second best friend or the person everyone in the group thinks he’s cool.

Lewon is a scaredy-cat, he usually goes out of our meets the earliest due to his scaredyness.

I am the person who’s fine with everything like ANYTHING and the others come to me.

Sandet is the muscle of the group, he is always lifting some type of weight either if it’s a water bottle or a jug of milk. He NEVER lifts with actual weights. I mean, how is he this strong.

Then Frawder, the all-purpose dude. He is average in practically every single thing on this universe. Even chugging a water bottle in 3 seconds. How can you be average at that skill?

Aside from that note, that long note, that really long note, I’m pretty sure that took you almost a whole minute to read. Anyways, Sandet was lifting water bottles again…

Back to The Story!

Sandet as usual was lifting the milk as Deryan chatted with me and the others around the corner. It took a while, a really long while to get chocolate milk. I mean, how does getting chocolate milk takes 10 minutes to make?

Finally, we settled down in the kitchens we talked about what we should do. We all agreed on going to the treehouse, that is, the one in Snerty’s house, the most creepy person on this planet. I’m not sure he is even human at this point… Well, we were the bravest type of kids in the world, our parents said so before they left.

I mean, all parents don’t want to disappoint their kids, I think they care about them (I hope so).

So why are all the parents not here?

Well to break it down, they went to the Land of Light, yes that is right, the holy grail, THE Land of Light. I can’t believe they went without me. Angers me every time, every time I say...

So back on track, they went to THE Land Of Light to ‘Protect us’ I don’t see any war except the one between us and Snerty. (And soon-to-be me and mom since she didn’t take me to THE Land of Light)

“Hey, I think Snerty is on vacation, his filthy car isn’t here anymore. I mean it’s for the better since it looked like he picked it up from an abandoned junkyard with paint stains from the 1900s.” Deryan told everyone.

“Ok, how do we get to the treehouse?” I asked

“First off, we go from the backyard enter the treehouse and put in permanent marker

“The Gang Visited your house” then we rush off leaving the crime scene.” Deryan planned

“A-are you sure we should do that? We m-might get in trouble” Lewon asked his teeth chattering

‘He’s already scared, great’ I thought ‘We could not do this fully without him’

“I mean it’s not a perfect plan, ” Sandet said, we all raised our eyebrows he never speaks, he’s usually in a land of his own.

“I mean, yeah, he is the type of person who wants us out of all people to get in trouble,” Frawder replied.

“Uhh… Kennedy, is this a good idea? This depends on you,” Sandet told me, “ I was the one who had to choose, get Snerty in trouble and risk our reputation, or have some fun and do what Deryan suggested.

“Let’s have some fun people!!” I screamed.

I’m pretty sure that scream was heard about like 10 blocks away, but who really cares, we are just some dumb high schoolers who don’t know what they are doing…

We scouted to the treehouse but, we found an obstacle, poison ivy. It’s not your regular ivy bushes, Snerty made sure it was like 8 feet tall so that he’d know if someone got into his house.

That creepy kid knows how to keep us out. Man, he is a heck of a problem.

We climb on top of each other and Lewon entered the house (yeah Lewon of all people) we waited, and waited for him to let us in but, nothing happened. We heard him mutter to himself,

“I want to go home, might as well this won’t lead us anywhere anyways…”

“Hey, you do realize that we can hear you Lewon,” Deryan told him.

After an eternity waiting we heard a

‘CREAK’

The ivy bushes had moved. I would guess that happened since Snerty is the nerdy type of kid. That guy just has to involve technology in everything. We all rushed to the entrance, to meet up with Lewon.

“What took you so long? You just had to pull a lever.” Frawder said

“I was debating whether or not to pull it,” Lewon responded. After Lewon pulled the lever we all went in and marked his backyard officially our territory, “You know, it has a lot of germs and it might have traps installed” Man this guy, seriously?

“It’s dark up here I don’t think this is safe,” Lewon said.

‘Not again, Lewon is such a wimp,’ I thought to myself.

‘Oh, here we go again, Lewon’s stupid excuses to get him out of this, ’ I thought to myself. We lit a tiny match to be able to see things in the treehouse.

“This place is bare, it literally has nothing inside of it,” Ayden said curiously.

“Hey, guys there is some small writing on the edge of this wall,” Deryan said. The writing quotes, ‘Follow your dreams and you will be successful.’

“What do you think this means?” Frawder asked.

“I think it means that we have to follow our dreams, I mean it is right in the quote,” Lewon replied. Everyone was in shock. Lewon finally gave a good idea. I mean this is rarer than me eating bananas. I HATE bananas. They are just icky and gooey hardness. And it’s yellow, the worst color in the history of the entire universe. (No joke, it actually is.)

“What is your dream, Kennedy?” Deryan asked me.

“I only have one dream, it’s to go to the Land of Light. It should be everyone’s dream, it's the holy grail,” I responded.

“I think this means this is our call to go to the Land of Light,” Frawder muttered scarcely. I was shaking like crazy.

“No, the holy grail The Land of Light doesn’t just call you. It summons you,” I argued

“No-one has ever been ‘summoned’ there. You always have a call to the wild. You know you have watched all those movies, right?” Deryan said

“Yeah right this isn’t a movie and, sometimes people disappear overnight, how do you explain that?” I counteracted.

“They might get out of their house toward The Land Of Light not teleport in it!” Deryan argued.

With all the commotion Lewon stepped back—on a pressure plate.

“Creak!”

“This place just keeps getting creepier and creepier. I mean, how does Snerty survive in this trashy environment.” Ayden responded.

We entered through the passageway to, the holy grail, the Land of Light…
